The midwinter sun is setting behind a grandstand of stained glass windows, shouldering brilliantly through. The pure opening tone of a carol rings out into a huge, hushed room. The light sweeps across the limestone casement, eroding the stone in channels of amber, blood, green and cold blues as surely as a million years of mountain rain groins the living rock.

Light can melt stone.
